Written in short sections, the reader is given ideas for implementing quick and easy tips that can impact her life immediately in a positive way. Finally, weaved throughout the thought-provoking content is an entertaining story about a fictional character named Jane whose journey illustrates for us the many ups and downs that can occur when a person is trying to make positive changes in her life. Being perfect at being you, does not mean you have to have all the answers. From the Author
Similar to my first book, Break Free of Parenting Pressures, Standing in Your Power was written to help people reconnect to their own internal strength and wisdom. I believe we become better people when we realize we do not have to measure up to the standards of others, as much as we need to believe in ourselves and know that we have everything we need already to live a 'good' life. We'll make mistakes, we'll learn from those mistakes and we'll try hard not to repeat those mistakes.
When we know that having all the answers is not our goal, but being open to new ideas, allowing our creativity to flow and tapping in to our inner wisdom, is...life becomes so much more joyful. This book was written as a fun way to remind ourselves of that. It includes a fictional character, loosely based on situations I've come across in real life, whose story runs through the book, making the information relatable and fun to read. I've provided Taking a Stand sections for those who want ideas on how to start applying a concept step by step and shared tools I have accumulated over the years to help stay grounded, de-stress and live on the 'sunny side'.
One of the great features of this book, is that if you are not an avid reader, but would like ideas for how to make changes in your life, you can set the book on a shelf and only pick it up when it catches your attention. When this happens, flip it open to any page and see how applicable the message on that page is for your current challenge or situation. It's uncanny how your inner wisdom will guide you.

Standing in Your Power allowed me to reflect on the importance of feeling good about myself. It made it O.K. to close my eyes and listen to where those negative feelings were coming from. So many times throughout the pages I found myself saying, Yes, I do that! Debbie helps me see that my journey is my own and it is a great ride!
