About empowering NRG
Empowering NRG was founded by Debbie Pokornik in 2008 and offers support to people who want to live their life on purpose. All of the programs and materials offered are delivered in a non-judgmental, supportive fashion so participants leave feeling enlightened, encouraged and empowered.
One of the main branches of empowering NRG is Break Free Parenting, which offers support to parents in a variety of formats. Debbie believes that all parents will benefit from support at some point in their parenting experience and that this support should focus on helping every parent know that he or she truly is the perfect person to parent his/her child.
“The more we support parents and help them feel good about who they are, the more we will bring out the best in them. When parents are doing their best work you just know good things are going to happen.” Debbie Pokornik
Debbie’s history of working in school divisions and providing trainings and support to a variety of community groups highlighted a need for more support and training to be given to people working in the helping professions. For example, many positions require workers to provide support to parents – often with no extra training in this area of study. As a result the second branch empowering NRG offers is to professionals who work (directly or indirectly) with parents.
“I find it frustrating how often people are put in a role and asked to do a job without the support to help them really do it well. For example teachers are not trained in understanding and working effectively with parents and yet they have to deal with them on a regular basis. An occasional workshop in this area can make a world of difference for how these interactions go.” Debbie Pokornik
All growth — personal, parental and professional – requires each of us to personally develop. Recognizing that support and education around human behaviour, emotional control, self-care and social skill development was both needed and a natural fit for empowering NRG, resulted in the creation of our newest branch on personal development. This branch is still being created, but includes a variety of programs to help people bring out the best in themselves and others.
“When people understand why they do the things they do they tend to be much nicer to themselves and to others.” Debbie Pokornik
Today empowering NRG includes a small team of like-minded people focused on empowering people to fully embrace the journey they came here to live. Debbie continues to do the bulk of our presentations, writing and public relations work, but always with one eye open for other’s to bring into the fold.
